These are the FAQ for Personal Message Changer.

Q: I can't install PMC because WLM keeps saying "The add-in could not be turned on.".
A: This strange thing seems to happen to a few people. I can't really tell you the reason because it never happend on any computer I tested PMC with, but I was told about that problem.
Normally thease steps should fix it:
  • Close WLM.
  • Re-extract the DLL file from the original ZIP and overwrite the old one.
  • Run SignAddIn again.
  • Sign-In to WLM and try to add PMC again. If this does not help restart your computer.

Q: The Add-In doesn't seems to work!
A: If you use the normal personal message component instead of the advanced version it is probably not turned on.
On the main window click the arrow beneath your online status.
Ensure that 'Turn On "Personal Message Changer"' is activated.
If this doesn't work look in the Add-in's settings and make sure the "Activate" check box is selected.
Q: My personal messages don't switch correct / sometimes they switch back to the previous one.
A: This is a bug in Windows Live Messenger. This happens if the "Changing-Time" is too low. Try to setup at least 8 seconds (recommended).
This is also the reason why PMC does not allow a changing-time under 5 seconds.
Q: On a conversation window I see the yellow warning: "Your add-in (...) may be sending messages."
A: Personal Message Changer won't send any messages or invitations. This is just a basically warning that WLM displays on every add-in.

Q: The add-in does still change my personal message even if it's not turned on!
A: If you use advanced personal messages it doesn't need to be turned on. This only applies to the normal personal messages. If you want to turn Personal Message Changer off, simply uncheck the "activate" check-box in the settings window.
Q: Advanced personal messages don't work - normal messages work without problems.
A: Make sure you did enable the "Show what I'm listen to" feature to make advanced messages work.
Q: I want to use advanced personal messages but I don't want to show my contacts what I'm listen to.
A: Open WMP and switch it to full-mode (Ctrl+1) and press Alt to open the menu. Go to Tools - Plug-Ins - Windows Live Messenger Music Plugin (uncheck it).
Q: The "Show what I'm listening to"-feature seems to don't work any longer or PMC is overwriting my song information after a few seconds. Why?
A: This is because of the advanced personal messages. In fact, the song information from WMP is nothing else then an advanced personal message. So PMC will overwrite it if the "Advanced Personal Message" component is turned on. To avoid this turn it off.
Also make sure that the WLM plugin in WMP is turned on. To check this switch Media-Player to full-mode (Ctrl+1) and press Alt to open the menu. Go to Tools - Plug-Ins - Windows Live Messenger Music Plugin (make sure it is checked).
Q: My settings are being applied. But when I restart WLM all my personal messages are gone/reseted. Why?
A: You forgot to hit the OK button on the main settings window. That means you closed the window instead of hitting OK (But there is such a big warning message...).
Q: In the Privacy Statement there is an update feature mentioned. Where can I find it?
A: In this release of PMC there is no update feature. It might be included in further versions. Please check http://pmc.koopaware.com for the newest release.
Q: I am missing a feature in PMC.
A: Your feature requests are welcome. We will try our best to add new features to PMC. Write us here.
